DESC partnered with Bellwether Housing to develop the building which DESC now owns and operates.

DESC’s latest permanent supportive housing project, the North Star, at 924 N. 143rd St., officially opened yesterday.

The 63,385-square-foot five-story building provides 100-units of studio housing for disabled and formerly homeless adults.

The community has common areas and a courtyard. There is also support services for residents on the ground level and four surface parking spaces for staff, with bicycle parking provided for residents. Construction took around 14-months. Exxel Pacific is the general contractor and SMR Architects designed the building.

An opening celebration was held yesterday which included speakers from the city of Seattle and King County. Those in attendance were also offered a tour of the property. The North Star will begin welcoming tenants in August.
